RV Furnace Exhaust Port
Most RV’s, except the very smallest RV’s have a rv furnace onboard. I’m sure that some of them probably even have two, but most RV’s have one and the furnace has an exhaust port that you can usually find on the side of the RV.
I’ll write more later about the RV Furnace directly, but since this is part of my pictorial guide, the main point was to be able to identify the furnace exhaust and know what it is.
One note worth discussing… For some odd reason, the mud daubers ( a small type of wasp that makes nests out of mud ) LOVE the furnace exhaust. One thing I need to install, but haven’t as of Aug 2012, is a mud dauber screen for the rv. Right now we simply put clear packing tape over the hole.
One way you can tell it is mud daubers is that they MAKE A MESS going in and out of the opening by dripping little bits of mud on the side of the RV. It really looks bad, but it is a tell-tale sign. If you look carefully at the picture below you can see the little mess that the wasps have made.
Here is a picture that clearly shows the RV’s furnace exhaust. You should be able to locate one on almost any RV that you purchase, provided it has a furnace :

Not to diminish the work, but I think you remove the screws and the process is fairly straightforward. I found this video (there were not many choices) which is about as close as I’ve seen to showing the process – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGsBmFXt8pk
Love to hear how it comes out so if you have the time, send me some pics if you want.
