What to look forward to

Oddity Odd at the Ripley’s Odditorium

The Odditorium is for many the Prairie’s star attraction, and rightly so. Embedded in its labyrinth is an endless cache of ‘oddfull’ delights, some of which will leave you craving for more, the others clutching to your blanket (if you came with one).

From full-sized models of the intriguingly bizarre to artistic renditions that depict stunning creativity, there’s enough to satisfy every ounce of your curiosity. Away from the odd galore and you find optional side activities that’ll appeal your kids at the tail end of the Odditorium gallery.

Be wary though, in addition to its odd and spooky content, the auditorium also houses an immense cache of information. So many have been drawn to unlocking its many secrets, a feat that cannot be achieved in one day! So except you plan on sleeping at the Prairie, its good advice when we say tame your curiosity.

The Wax Museum

The wax museum is where you would go if you wanted to see the wax figures and figurines of your favorite celebrities. Virtually every A-list celebrity is well represented; pop stars, influential persons, you name it. However, the centerpiece of this showcase are the wax figures of America Presidents.

The attention to detail with that collection is mind-boggling, so much that you’d be forgiven if you attempted to start a conversation with one. The wax museum also houses its own fear department aptly named the Museum of Fear.

Like the Odditorium, eerily spooky works of art deck its cabinets and hallway, but while the Odditorium lovingly spooks your senses, the museum of fear would literally send shivers down your spine. A must see for those in love with Hollywood’s horror films.

Finally, a surreal experience at the 7D moving theater

Picture yourself as the lead character in one of Quentin Tarantino’s cowboy themed Texas movie. Armed with a rifle you coast through the Wild West tearing down the bad guys of Los Banditos. You get that experience, and by experience I mean the thrills, the twist, fun, and nerve-rattling rush when you hop aboard the 7D moving theater.

There’s the option to switch movies. If you haven’t had enough spookiness for the day, you could opt for a Zombie themed apocalyptic set, where as you might have already guessed – wield a gun to shoot the bad guys (zombies).

Honorary mention goes to the Laser race and enchanted mirror maze sections of the Ripley’s Grand Prairie, both pack a tantalizing dose of fun more suited for kids and teenagers. That said, whether you choose to go singly or in the company of friends and family, Ripley’s presents fun in a refreshing and no less than enthralling package!
