Long Description
Texas hill country RV park on the Llano River at the confluence of the James River – the Dos Rios. We are a small, beautiful river park with 19 spacious rv sites, 2 cabins, and more natural beauty than you’d believe possible in central Texas.
Fishing, kayaking, tubing, swimming, off-roading, cliff jumping, or just escaping it all. There’s even a bat cave and an island… you can do it all at the Dos Rios.
RV52.com Note: Sheri and I had the pleasure of visiting this park. This park is very, very remote – about 8 miles from Mason Texas. In our opinion, this is a good thing. Not everyone might agree. Mason, which is small, is about 8 miles away.
Here are some notes on the park and the area:
- The park is a bit hilly and bumpy. Our little 16 footer and our pickup had no trouble. Not so sure about a 45 foot Prevost. I think this is a consideration.
- All the slots are back-in. Not a problem for us, but some people get freaked out by back-in slots.
- Limited cell phone service, but the WiFi worked surprisingly well. You won’t stream a movie, but if you need to text message, get some emails, or even make a wifi call (without video) this is possible.
- The “peace” of the Llano River and the countryside is hard to describe. Delicious comes to mind.
- We found a really nice Mexican restaurant in Mason – the food was really really good. It is Nacho’s. It is rated lower than it should be on the TripAdvisor list.
- Cypress Creek is good solid food. They are probably overrated on the TripAdvisor list, but we enjoyed a couple of meals here.
- The only coffee shop is called Grunts and is good.
- To a “T”, we found the service horrible at all restaurants in Mason. No one was mean. But most people seemed a little put-out to even wait on us. When they did wait on us, they had no clue on the menus. In the defense of the restaurants, most of these seemed like sub-25 year olds who… well. I’ll just stop.
- All in all – we’d stay in Dos Rios again and we would visit Mason again. Wonderful place to escape the rat race.
