Fantastic Fans are not just Fantastic… they work. Why? Because they move air in an RV.
A little bit about the Fantastic Fan and a little “fix-it” tip
We’ve been in the Open Range 399BHS for several years. So I’m not telling you about something I’ve JUST LEARNED about – No – I’m talking about something Sheri and I use on a daily and frequent basis.
This is a vent fan that will really move air very rapidly within an RV. Or for that matter a shed, a building or whatever. Our Fantastic Fan will automatically open its cover and then when it is open far enough, it will automatically turn itself on. You also have three speeds that you can select for the fan.
How well does a powered RV roof vent work?
We’ve found that when we turn on the fan, it will get the indoor temperature within a few degrees (something like 2-4 degrees F) of the outdoor temperature within about 30 minutes. It can move the air very rapidly.
This won’t help you much in the Texas summer but if your RV is cold and its nice and warm outside you can warm it up quickly. Or if it is cool outside and your RV is too toasty, you can move the warm air out of the RV.
In the evenings, we can close every window in the RV except for the ones where we want a personal breeze and the fan will do a great job of keeping air moving from the open window to the vent.
I highly recommend a Fantastic Fan if you don’t have one.
Fantastic Fan Quit Working
One time our Fantastic Fan suddenly quit. No real warning and no symptoms. Here are some clues : it was rainy and humid outside (RV’s suffer badly from condensation).
Here is the LIKELY root cause of your Fantastic Fan (or other brand) of Fan not working…
The SWITCH that turns the fan on when the vent goes up/down is corroding slightly – maybe corroding is two strong – it has an oxide buildup between its contacts perhaps. When it does this the switch no longer works.
Fantastic Fan Troubleshooting step: Get up on the roof and simply work the powered vent switch up and down with your finger several times and the fan will start working again.
Ours did.
So don’t be alarmed – your LIFETIME guarantee Fantastic fan should start working again.
Hope this helps!

my fantastic fan was replaced by fantastic co. this was 10 years now
it has been working fine so far ,but now when it rains the fan will close and open again when the rain stops
The problem is when it closes the motor seems to want to keep running, like the rain sensor is not functioning properly
Do you have any suggestions

This sounds similar to my fantastic fan, but in the opposite. When mine opened, it would not turn on. When I mentioned it to my local RV repair guy he said this happens all the time. He said to get up on the roof and open up the vent manually and then just press and release the open-close button a bunch of times which will clean the contacts. He was right, it has worked great ever since.
I wonder if you do this if your fan will reliably then turn off? Or maybe you just need a new switch. It doesn’t sound like the rain sensor, it sounds like the on/off sensor for when the vent it closed/open. There is a button that gets pressed when the vent is closed. That button controls the on/off of the fan. That is what it sounds like to me.
