RV Air Conditioner Filter How To Video and Instructions
RV AC Filter Notes
Do you have an RV Air conditioner filter?
Are you facing issues with your AC's filters? Does it require fixing?
Do you want to buy a new filter or looking to repair the old filter?
If your RV air conditioner filter is not working properly…
RV air conditioner filters get blocked by debris easily and regularly. This is because of the constant flow of air going through the air conditioner. The filters keep “yuk” from getting on more sensitive parts of the air conditioner *AND* also reduce the amount of contaminants in the air of your RV.
I would not believe that the AC filter will reduce contaminants greatly so do not DEPEND on this if you have respiratory issues. If clean air is important to you, then you really need to get a true air purifier. There is a nice article on clean air for your RV.
But the primary purpose of the filter is really to keep the debris and contaminants in the air from fowling the AC.
If a filter is cleanable, just follow the filters instructions… if you have them! Normally the filters aren't too hard to get to.
If you feel a replacement would be a better option rather than cleaning the filter, go ahead and purchase a new one (scroll to the bottom of the page for a headstart). However you need to buy a durable and high performing filter to make your AC work with utmost efficiency. The BEST way is to look for high ratings on the products I show you.
What to do If the filter is clogged…
Dust and debris building up in the filter eventually will restrict air flow and you will experience reduced cooling capacity. This also affects the functioning of your AC unit.
If the filter is dirty, debris could start accumulating in the ducts too and over time can create health problems for people, especially with respiratory disorders.
Unaddressed overly plugged AC filters can cost you a fortune for repairs on your RV AC or the ductwork (if you have it). A continually unattended and plugged filter on an AC unit will lead to failure. Finally, and perhaps the simplest downside, a dirty AC filter will make your unit consume more energy to achieve the same cooling capacity.
Significance of AC filters
AC filters filter the air circulating throughout your RV. The idea of circulation of the air is to move air through the AC unit and transfer heat from inside the unit to the outside via a complex process beyond this article. The key idea is that AIR FLOW is good.
If an RV AC filter is clogged, it will be eventually reflected in the overall efficiency of the air conditioner. A clogged AC filter will reduce the ability of the AC to cool the air. Besides providing information on how to make the best AC filter purchase, how to operate, clean, fix and maintain the filters, the section also has some links to help you purchase replacements.
