   I’ve been going to Gene and Jeanne’s Pineaire for 49 years. We took our children there when they were 3 and 5 years old- They learned to swim in the River- learned to catch the water garter snakes -I had to give up a cook pot to put the snakes in and the kids caught fish to feed them-put a rock in there- I’ve spent many hours at the river basking on the bedrock in the sun reading magazines and books or in the hammock-We would always tent camp originally in my grandfather’s umbrella tent and his canvas cooler (with shelves for fruit bread cookies-dry goods to keep the raccoons out- -My kids would hop rocks across the river to the store when we were out of bread -milk-or whatever- Gene always had ice frozen in milk jugs- this time when I called because I hadn’t made it up there this year- I got to visit with Gene but he told me Jeanne had died this spring. I’ve been worried because she had been sick last year so I called and visited with Gene. He told me she ‘s with me in spirit – I was going to tell him I’m with him in spirit. He said he will be following soon- I hope not-Wonderful memories- Our place at the River-
