Long Description
BANDELIER NATIONAL MONUMENT-JUNIPER CG is a RV Park in or near the town of Los Alamos. It is a fairly small park with a listed 30 rv sites to park your coach. This park does not seem to have pull thru sites. The owners of the park were careful not to claim that the park can handle a very large camper. Make sure your generator is fueled up for this park. Electric looks to not be provided. The largest electric service is probably 30 amp. Regardless of other connections, water, surprisingly enough, is not a provided service. You will want to ensure an empty gray and black tank as sewer connections are not provided here. Be prepared to actually put the computer down and enjoy your coffee as there is no 802.11 Wireless Internet. Really this shouldn’t be an issue for campers, honestly, but there is not a Cable TV hookup. Go ahead and bring along little Paws since this park is Animal Friendly. If you like to REALLY get outside, you would be thrilled to know that you can camp in a tent here. Some shade trees do exist, which also make the park more scenic and attractive. Do not just drive by Los Alamos – instead stop and rest at BANDELIER NATIONAL MONUMENT-JUNIPER CG.
Note about Pets from the Park Service :
While pets are allowed in the campground they are not allowed on any hiking trails. You may walk your dog on any park roads or in the campground but not on designated hiking trails. |
More from some really diligent Park Rangers :
Hi – another Bandelier ranger here. The park campground, Juniper Campground, does have only a very few pull-through spaces. There is a dump station, but we do not have any hook-ups. There are restrooms with flush toilets and sinks with running water, but no showers. Juniper Campground is a typical National Park campground, where RVs are welcome, but it is not an RV park as such. On the other hand, Bandelier National Monument is 33,000 acres, with archeological sites from the Ancestral Pueblo people, short and long trails, wildlife and wild plants, and rangers to help visitors learn about it all. The park website is www.nps.gov/band, and there is also an official Facebook page. Come enjoy!

I am a Park Ranger at Bandelier National Monument in northern New Mexico and found your website via Google alerts. Thank you for your description of our campground. I wanted to correct one thing so readers are not misguided. While pets are allowed in the campground they are not allowed on any hiking trails. You may walk your dog on any park roads or in the campground but not on designated hiking trails.
