If you have been around the block with RV52, you'll know that I'm a big user of Amazon and a big believer in Amazon Prime. Yes, if you sign up for a free 30 day trial – I get a small spiff. It doesn't cost you anything. But even if I get spiffed – Sheri and I have been on Prime for several years and have no intention of leaving Prime anytime soon.
Here are some articles from RV52.com where I've written about Amazon Prime – at length, including the good, the bad, and the ugly.
I've got other articles on the subject, but I love Amazon Prime.
Is it perfect? No. While it is true that you get free shipping on Amazon Prime marked items, I've noticed that many times the Amazon Prime marked items are marked up slightly to cover shipping – as Amazon DOES charge the vendors for shipping. That being said, the difference is marginal so I am happy to never have to consider shipping.
Sheri does use the Amazon streaming. A lot. No I mean it. A lot. She “power watches” the seasons of several shows. I try not to get interested in the shows but it is difficult. I will say that one thing I've noticed is the story arcs of the shows much better. In some ways, power watching is better when you try to see the context of the story the writers are attempting to tell. So that is kind of cool.
We buy, on estimate, about 2-3 products PER WEEK from Amazon. We buy 50 packs of toothbrushes, vitamins, bubble wrap, packing tape and many, many ebooks. I've bought shoes (Ecco) which I've been thrilled with.
Have we had bad experiences? With products – yes. With Amazon – no. We've found that the ratings are still not good enough to be fully trusted. Still they are better than nothing at all.
Anyway, this so-called “product” I'm listing here is a service from Amazon and you can try it out for 30 days for free.
