You can find this video over here: /keurig
However, I thought I would put this video on a blog post, and also place the transcript along with this article.
Hello, I'm Marlan Winter from RV52, also known as Fitty, which is the
name of my little mascot, a personified RV. You see it on RV52. I'm coming
at you, not from the RV. This is the first time ever that I haven't shot
from an RV. I'm actually in RV52.com world headquarters building, but I
wanted to show you something that I love. It's my favorite possession, and
I wanted to share that with you. All RVers can use it, all people can use
it, and I love it.
What is it? Well, it's my trusty Keurig. I'm actually not 100% sure how you
pronounce it. I think in German it might be “korick”, K-E-U-R-I-G. These
are single serving coffee makers, and they're super easy to use. I just got
one from my mother, and a lot of people will say, “Yeah, but I make coffee
at a nickel a cup or even less.” But, look, on this thing, you have no
filters, no grounds, no waste, no mess, and every person can get what they
So before I make a pot of coffee, or actually a cup of coffee, for myself,
and it's not really going to be coffee, it's going to be something
different, and I'll tell you about it in a little bit, I want to go through
some of the cups I use. So if you go to RV52.com/mocha, you can get a box
like this. This is how they come if you order them off Amazon Prime. I've
noticed Amazon Prime is pretty much as good as the local grocery store
prices. The nice thing about Prime is when you think of it, you can order
it, and then a couple days later it'll come to your house. This is one of
my favorites, which is the mocha.
So let me show these K cups, and in particular the one I like is cafe
mocha, and this is actually just a powdery mix. So when it goes through, it
completely empties the cup. There's nothing left behind. Just throw the cup
The next one that I'd like to talk about it one called Timothy's. Now, I
get decaf, because if I get too much caffeine, that's not good for me. This
Timothy's is, they say, one of the few Colombian coffees that are in the
Keurigs. This is so bold and simultaneously so smooth, it blows your mind.
When you go to Amazon, you'll look online for Timothy's, and the ratings
are out of this world. You will pay more for Timothy's, but I love this
The next one I want to show you is a cafe caramel, and there's a lot of
these cafes out by several different brands. I use the one Cafe Escapes,
which is actually, I think, ultimately owned by Keurig, and this is the
partner, the equivalent, the brother, the sister, the sibling of cafe
mocha. Same thing, it's got coffee and caramel mixed together. It's just a
powder mix. I get so tickled. I see that people on Amazon say, “Well, it
doesn't taste like Starbucks.” Right, Starbucks costs you $4.50 for a
mocha. I'm getting them as low as around $0.65 to $0.70 now, so there's a
trade off. There's a common sense component. I don't know why these people
get on the Internet and all of a sudden they lose that. So if you think
you're going to get a Starbucks' mocha by plugging this in, you will be
mistaken. It's not as good, but for $0.75, in my opinion, it's good enough,
and I find them really enjoyable.
Let me show you some other things. You can just get hot chocolate. This is
my son's, and this is Grove Square. He said, “Dad, I think this is better
than the Cafe Escapes brand,” so we're going with Grove Square. These guys
are really economical. These are down as low as around $0.50 a cup. Again,
it's not a filtering thing. It's a powdered mix in here that goes through,
and it completely empties the cup of material. I'll explain to you why
that's different in a minute.
Here's another brand. It's Green Mountain coffee. I think they're owned by
Keurig, as well. Keurig does the coffee maker and the coffee, and they
probably sell a lot of coffee. This is the Dark Magic, and it's a decaf.
You can get it in non-decaf, but I was a little scared of it because of the
name, but this is really delicious. It's not Timothy's, but it's delicious.
Donut House is another series, and this was really good. It wasn't too
bitter. The one I liked was this breakfast blend. That's pretty good. It
wasn't too bitter, and a lot of these decafs end up being a little more
bitter than the others, but I like them. If you just want a tea, you can
get this thing. I like doing Cozy Chamomile, but there are lots of lots of
flavors of teas you can get. This is nice for in the evening when you
something hot, you don't want to get wired, and all that. Then finally, I
tried this Vermont Country Blend, and I didn't care for it. It was very,
very bitter. I'm guessing there are people who like bitter coffees. I'm
just not one of them.
Now, if you have a cup that's big, like this one, and I'm going to put it
on here for you… It does say Starbucks on here, which I think is kind of
funny. I'm using my Keurig with a Starbucks' cup. Remember I told you it
empties it, so more water in the cup is just more water, so you only need
to set it for the smallest cup setting. You can empty this in your cup.
Then you can come along behind it, and that's hot cocoa, and then you can
just do one of these, Dark Magic decaf, for example, and that's very good
by doing that. In effect, you've made your own mocha. So I've done that, as
well. It's worth noting, this is actually a miniature filter inside the
cup, so you get filtered coffee. You don't get grounds, and it's not an
instant. It's a true filtered coffee. It's just single-serve with no mess,
no muss, no fuss, that I really, really love.
So let's go ahead, and I'll make my mocha. That's one of my favorites. So
I've already got my Keurig turned on, and it's really just this easy. So I
put the Keurig in, and the Keurig [wants to] and it knows how to preheat
the coffee. It says it's ready to brew, and I make it to the tallest size.
That does weaken it a little bit, but that's good enough for me. Then I
just press the button, and that starts it. It says it's brewing, and it's
going to handle this now. We're just going to go ahead and let the tape
roll, and I'm not even going to edit this part. We're going to let it make
its cup of coffee so that you can get a sense of how long this takes. By
the way, after this does this, I could pull this coffee cup out, we could
put another one in, and she'll be instantly ready to go.
I'm hoping with the video, you can see it in enough detail. See, now this
water has already turned a watery color, because all of the material is out
of that cup. It won't do that when it's a true coffee with the miniature
filter inside. In fact, a lot of people will use these twice. There's
enough coffee, and they use them twice. At this point, I can brew the
second cup right now, and it'd be hot. So just because you got your ladies'
aid over or a group of guys, it doesn't mean everybody's got to wait. I
would not let having a full cup of coffee hinder you from having these.
So to find the cups I have recommended, and I really recommend these.
I'm using them. I'm eating my own dog food. To find the Keurig I got, go to
RV52.com/KEURIG. I do have a page for the mocha, RV52.com/mocha, but
I've taken care of all of that. You just go to RV52.com/Keurig, K-E-U-R-I-
If you like what I do at RV52.com, anything you get off my page or do
through Amazon, I get a small commission. Look, I'm not getting rich off of
it, but it's a way to help me out, and you're not out a darn thing by doing
it. You can buy anything off Amazon. Start your Amazon search on
RV52.com/Amazon, and good for me, good for you, and we can work together
that way. Thanks a lot.
