Sorting out the RV Industry and Who owns What
This particular page is a “work in progress”. I’m making it because there are many, many makers of RV’s. If you actually look at all the different brand names, product lines, and product types, the result is a dizzying and lengthy list. I have heard that this industry is a $40B/year plus industry.
This is a gargantuan task for a little ole blog guy like me, but I’m going to give it a whirl.
Here is a little legend…
- For the types, I’m thinking : fifth wheel, travel trailer, motorhome, class a. I might put in multiple when I’m in a hurry and come back later and fill in with more details.
- For the brand/lines, I’m thinking this is a “container” for a series of floorplans. That way, I can get to the lowest “collection” of stuff without struggling with idea of whether or not it was a separate company making it or not. Sometimes it will be a company, like a small truck camper company, and sometimes it might just be a product line within company.
- For the intermediate owner, I put that in for companies like Keystone, who are owned by Thor and then they own others as well. I’m thinking this slot can have more than one item and be comma separated. Finally, the penultimate owner, which for Keystone would be Thor. Anyway, I’ll try this and see how it goes.
So now I’ve started to try to put all of this together, if anything, so I can sort it out, but perhaps it will be helpful to all of you too! If you know of something I missed, please send the information on to me. Thanks!
