Well, Topeka news this morning was saying 76 for Topeka — I’m wondering if they have the same forecasters helping them that worked with New York. 76 in late January, records might be set.

Ankle is a pain, literally and figuratively. Sore and swollen — unfortunately with my job I can’t stay off of it. Oh well.

Love that tree farm in your graphics today. Neat!!

  • CCRVOC Discussion • Re: Generator selection January 28, 2015
Two cautions – first is cleanliness of power. Non-Inverter generators (sometimes referred to as contractor generators) are much noisier and the power is not at all clean. I have seen circuit boards and converters fried by the power, especially at start up and shutdown of the generator. Spikes are not good things for our electronics in the coaches.

The second is noise – as I mentioned the ‘contractor’ generators are much noisier. Not sure how you will be situated to your neighbors but quieter is appreciated, not only for your own piece of mind, but for your neighbors as well. Many locations have quiet hours where generators, etc., are not allowed. We just stayed in one where inverter generators less than 55 db (eg Honda and Yamaha 2000 or less) were allowed all night for the winter.

Finally, even though you can couple two 2000 or even some 3000s together, you do not really get 4000 or 6000 out of them. As I recall my Honda 2000s are rated for initial (startup power for a microwave or other appliance) of 2000 then are 1800 continuous. I do know that during this prior falls very hot weather, the two together would not power up my air conditioner which is getting old – wished I’d had a larger generator then.

Sorry I can’t be of more help but hope I’ve helped some.

Harbor Freight has an inverter generator 2200 w for $499. I don’t think at this point that it can be combined with another for double the wattage. It looks very similar to the Honda or Yamaha generators but I think it might be just slightly larger in size. B.J.
