Hi everyone, I had an RV that was in great shape... except for one major problem, leaking, rotted roof. I went to a bunch of places to get prices and it ranged from $3,000-$4,000. I could by another trailer for that much, anyway, I decided to do it myself and video tape it to help anyone else that might need to do the same thing. Both of our Fantastic vent fans are equipped with rain sensors, but there are lots of times that we want the fan open and running even if it's raining out. The solution is to install vent fan covers. Our favorite is the Camco Aero-Flo (no, they did not pay us to promote it!), which has lots of venting for high air flow, plus allows easy swing-open access for cleaning.

Recently I installed a Fantastic Fan Vent http://www.loveyourrv.com/installing-fantastic-vent-fan-rv/ and used Eternabond tape to reseal the opening. I really liked how easy and slick it was so have decided to reseal the whole roof. RV leaks can be very expensive and I hope to prevent them on my Cougar fifth wheel.

In this case the EPDM rubber was still in decent shape; it was simply a caulk failure at a seam which caused a leak.
We noticed the dripping during a hard and steady rain and after further inspection, realized it had been leaking for some time. There was evidence the previous owner had tried to recaulk the seam on more than one occasion.
Too late for us, the water sitting inside the roof had taken its toll.
