Well everyone is familiar with Marlan, so now its time I introduce myself.
I am a nurse that met Marlan back in November 2008 while I was living in my 29ft travel trailer full-time.
I have two boys that are grown. Marlan and I married just a few months after we met July 2009. It was love at first sight, even though I lived non-traditionally in a travel trailer. That is when RV52.com was born… Marlan was completely fascinated that people could live in an RV full-time.
Lets see, where do I start? Here goes!
I have always been the mom. I love being “mom”. So even though my boys are grown I still am just mom. Marlan’s two children ages 7and 11 at the time we met wanted to come live with us. So I was mom all over again to them. It was a MAJOR part of my identity.
At the end of 2017, the last of the kids flew the coop. So now Marlan and I are empty nesters.
I can say that I love it. But now I sit back and have to figure out what my new role will be – who am I now, now that I am no longer “just mom”.
So I was thinking long and hard and this is what I discovered about myself. I was able to recall some of my passions that have really been on the back burner since being a mom was a job I took seriously.
I love the elderly, handicapped and the homeless. The underdogs, if you will. Even though my kids are grown, I am a servant. I find great joy in serving and helping others.
I have been a home health wound care nurse for many years. I look back and I realize I have been a patient advocate and the voice for the elderly, handicap and the homeless. Bureaucrats did not like seeing my number on the caller ID because I made them do their job and help out the helpless!
I seem to just stand in the gap to make a difference when ever I can.
The elderly are amazing and mostly forgotten.
When I go to see them for a nurse visit, I sometimes was the only visit, touch or kind word that would get that day. I have sat and listened to some of the most amazing stories and recall them with such fondness. Some of my visits would be heart breaking while others brought great joy, cookies and coffee.
My goal with helping my husband with RV52 is to answer questions, hot topics, and just learn who you are and how I can help. I can be super goofy, serious, controversial and bossy, but the one thing you can take to the bank about me is, I am real authentic and what you see is what you get….. I always tell people, don’t ask if you don’t want to know.
I look forward to developing a dialog, conversations and even friendships with all of our RV52 followers. Since you know a little about me I would love to know who you are and how I can help answer questions that you might have.
Put it in the comments below and don’t be shy.
