With high costs to replace and hire someone to maintain your RV's rooftop AC unit, it's wise to keep it clean and inspected yourself. If you're comfortable on your roof than you can probably tackle the task yourself. Follow along as I show you how I clean and maintain mine.
Along with posting questions, answers and partaking on the RV living community at http://www.pippenings.com you can now read and comment on my personal blog which will features posts and topics ranging from RV DI...
Well the weather was warm today and the humidity was kind of high So, in other words, it turned out a great day to be working on my truck. Thanks to Advance Auto Parts and their speed perk system we got ourselves a good deal on a synthetic oil change. We then moved into the RV to replace the filters on our Coleman air conditioner and got it done right as the storm hit pretty hard. But everything's okay now... Thanks for watching
The RV air conditioning units that have been around for years are made in such a way that they really want to perform for a long time but with all those years and, like in our case many different owners, maintenance was not performed like it should have been and we were having issues with our AC not cooling enough. I made this Vid to show you want I found on mine and although I didn't Capture it on Video, it made the temperature drop on very similiar days from a pleasant 75 degrees after running...
RV Project - Cheap Air Conditioner Filter. My air conditioner filter was crumbling and I show how I replaced it with cheap filter material.
I am a single woman starting the process of becoming a full time RVer in a truck camper. Reducing my material items, becoming a minimalist. This is my journey of that process along with my travels as a solo woman RVer. It is a challenge to reduce all material possessions in a 2500 square foot house to moving into a tiny home, that being a ti...
This is something you want to schedule frequently! Cleaning Air Conditioning Coils is VERY important. Dirty AC coils can cause your unit to work harder and not cool properly, use more electricity and not blow enough air. Replacing an AC due to improper maintenance is a wasted and unnecessary expense.

So, my AC shroud gets cracked or damaged all the time. When I went to Camping World to pick up a new one, they offered to replace it for me... for a fee. That's when it occurred to me that maybe not everyone knows how easy this RV maintenance task is to do yourself.
Which is why I made this video of the process of replacing the Air Conditioner shroud on our Dometic Penguin 2. I also threw in straightening the fins with a fin straightener comb, and cleaning out the unit with compr...
Our RV air conditioner has sprung a leak inside the cab of the coach. Today I'm going up on the roof to check things our. After my inspection is inconclusive, we ask for your help to figure this out.

How to Remove a Camper Roof Vent and Install an RV Air Conditioner
This video shows how to remove a standard roof vent, and then install a new 2014 Dometic Brisk Air II 13,500 BTU A/C unit.
The camper shown is a 2012 Jayco model 1207 pop up.
Today Jeremiah and I are up on the roof of our RV doing some much needed maintenance on our air conditioner. It is important to regularly remove the cover and perform a visual inspection of your A/C unit and also clean any debris/ dust from the condenser and evaporator.
It's not going to get cold, there's just going to be less heat. A/C is actually stripping the heat out of your RV, controlling the humidity, transferring heat, controlling temperature, and ventilation. A little maintenance and watching your voltage will give your a/c a long life!

We thought the water heater in our brand new motorhome was totally dead. But there was absolutely NOTHING wrong with it! We simply made a mistake in using our RV's water system. Don't make the same mistake we did!
On April 11, 2014, we marked 11 years of full-time RVing. After all this time, we've learned an awful lot about how live in an RV and manage its systems. But that doesn't mean we haven't made mistakes.
As we look back on all the miles we've traveled and places...
